The third Saturday of the month is the Urban Spoken Word Poetry Slam hosted by David Hart upstairs from 7-9pm Saturday Gennas used to pay homage to Lawrence Welk , one of America’s Classics, just in case you’re wondering why there’s Lawrence Welk paraphernalia on display. That’s right. At 6:00 p.m. every Saturday the Welkians would gather for cocktails and champagne music. We provided the bubbles, and they came down to sing along with Larry and the gang. Sadly, due to some schedule changes and other factors it no longer happens. It was quite surreal and a lot of fun. Sunday is the Service Industry Special, 8 ’til midnight. 40% off most everything for all you hard working service industry people, waitrons, chefs, cooks, cabbies, etc... Other nights saw a mix of bands, shows and burlesque. It just was never busy enough on a regular basis to sustain itself. So if you’re going out on the town and you’re not coming to Genna’s right away go support your local music and arts scene, then stop in for a nightcap. Don’t Drive Drunk. Madison has great cabs.
